Service Areas/Zip Codes: Healthy Start serves the East, Central and West Harlem areas within zip codes 10026, 10027, 10029, 10030, 10035, 10037, and 10039. We also serve those who may be displaced or living in shelters.

Services Provided:
This HRSA/MCHB funded initiative is one of NMPP’s long‐standing programs. GHHS offers case management, health education and other services for pregnant and parenting women & men, as well as infants up to 2 years old. The goal of Healthy Start is to support families in achieving a healthy baby, and in reducing infant mortality and morbidity. The program assists with advocacy, inter-conceptional care, prenatal care access, as well as safe sleep and parenting education. In addition, GHHS facilitates referrals for housing, public assistance, and WIC; counseling, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS and other health education, home visits and escorts to health and social services appointments.

Within Healthy Start, there is our Thrive! Project­ This project offers nutrition counseling and education, physical activity, and health and wellness interventions (e.g. wellness coaching and peer support group) that will effectively reduce the incidence of overweight and obesity and improve future pregnancy outcomes among women.
