Harlem Works

Harlem Works is the job readiness/training component of NMPP. Harlem Works aims at supporting NMPP’s target population and the community at large with knowledge and skills that will aide in obtaining gainful employment.

Harlem works will offer a variety of trainings to meet our target population’s needs. Typical workshop/training will include:

  • Resume writing workshop – Participants will develop their resumes to effectively market their experience and abilities, incorporating language that appeals to companies seeking employees.
  • Interview Skills and Etiquette – Participants will develop their interview skills, learning to market themselves in person, on the phone, and online.
  • Computer Skills – Participants will learn basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications and internet proficiency.
  • Financial management- Participants will learn how to better manage personnel finances, including setting financial goals and saving for retirement.
  • Civic engagement- How to participate in your community. This workshop will especially target new immigrants.
  • Birth work including full spectrum community doula training, child birth education, breastfeeding training and more.
