COVID-19 RESPONSE

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted access to health care, including maternal health.  Women are being forced to give birth alone in hospitals, without their family members present. NMPP staff have worked tirelessly to address the health inequities that our clients face, and to support them in meeting their unmet needs. Covid-19 response

Our commitment to our clients is undeterred.

Here is the support we are providing:

  • Our nurse midwife has stepped in to alleviate some of the fears these mothers have, and to provide child birth education, including coaching them on how to advocate for themselves.

  • Our postpartum doulas are meeting virtually with the mothers, providing them with emotional support, and information on newborn care and breastfeeding.

  • Our Community Health Workers and Case Managers are connecting clients to services such as SNAP, WIC, and health care insurance.

  • Our Health Educator is providing virtual workshops on parenting education, nutrition, and stress management.

  • Every week our staff members drive around to deliver essential baby items to our clients.
